The wrap-up presentation of the drug dumping experiment by DesignLab University of Twente.

The experimental 'drug dumping' project by DesignLab, the police, the IJsselland environmental department (Omgevingsdienst IJsselland) and province of Overijssel has recently garnered quite some interest from media and other professionals throughout the Netherlands. Drug dumping is obviously a 'hot topic'. We are inviting you for the final presentation of the experiment to facilitate public discussion on the issue.

  • Project scope

Drug waste is a public health hazard and entails high cleaning costs. At the same time, there is insufficient systematic knowledge of this problem. DesignLab has therefore carried out an experiment with the police, the IJsselland environmental department (Omgevingsdienst IJsselland) and province of Overijssel to provide insight into production and disposal sites for synthetic drugs.

The two student teams have completed a six-week sprint on the issue using DesignLab's Science2Design4Society methodology, and the project results now ready to be shared.

  • Programme presentation

After DesignLab’s presentation of the experiment and its outcomes, police and province officials will reflect on the experiment’s approach as well as the relevance of the used cooperative method. It will conclude with a plenary session, with room for questions and discussion of possible follow-ups on the experiment.
