The bachelor’s programme Civil Engineering (CE) uses a binding recommendation. At the end of the first year, students are given a binding recommendation. If you meet the standard, you will be advised to continue the programme. The binding recommendation will be negative if you do not meet the standard of the programme. A negative binding recommendation means that you cannot continue the programme.
Relevant for academic year 2019-2020
*Please read CAREFULLY*:
1.If you failed 1 module-part and therefore did not pass the module you can take the remaining (sufficient) results with you to the next year, and only redo the failed module part. You DO NOT have to make a request with the Exam Board for this, but you will get this extension automatically; you will receive a letter before August 16th, if this situation applies to you
2.If you failed for example module 7 or module 8, you do not qualify to start your minor. However, in some cases you can get an exemption. If you qualify for this, you will get it automatically and you DO NOT have to make a request with the Exam Board. You will get a letter from the Exam Board before August 31st, if this situation applies to you.
3.If you failed a module part for module 6 for example, you are eligible to get an exemption to start with module 11 and 12 either way. This exemption will also be provided automatically and you DO NOT have to make a request with the Exam Board. You will get a letter from the Exam Board before August 16th, if this situation applies to you.
If you feel like one of the three or maybe more of the situations above is applicable to you, but you did not receive a letter in time (before the 31st of August), then please contact the student adviser: Judith Roos.
All other requests still need to be send to the Exam Board.
Detailed information can be found on the website general Binding Recommendation of the University of Twente. This website contains, among other things, a web form for requesting an evaluation of your circumstances.
