Please note that ONLY the EXAMINATION BOARD can GRANT an extra exam opportunity!
In general, each academic year programmes offer two scheduled regular opportunities for all tests within the study units . Article 3.1.4 of the EER mentions: “The possibility of unconditional access to at least one resit must be offered for each study unit in the same academic year. An exception may be made for practical exercises (such as practical classes and projects)”.
However, offering two tests per academic year does not mean an automatic right to participate in two tests per year.
A student may, for various reasons (e.g. personal circumstances) not pass a test or be able to participate in the test. If a student misses a test opportunity (e.g. personal circumstances), this does not automatically entitle the student to another opportunity. The examination board grants such an extra opportunity only in special cases where there would otherwise be serious consequences.
The examination board distinguishes two situations in which students are eligible to take part in an extra test opportunity:
- Students whose completion of their studies depends on one single test.
- A student fails to pass (part of) a study unit due to personal circumstances.
