When a student wishes to compose a free Bachelor or Master programme it needs to be discussed with the programme management (programme coordinator and/or study advisor) before sending in the request to the examination board. When the programme consists of courses from different degree programmes, according to the Act the examination board has to confirm to which degree programme the free programme belongs.
If the degree programme usually assigns supervisors for the thesis, in the case of a free programme the student has to find a supervisor by himself.
The request has to meet the following requirements:
- The composed programme needs to have a well-argued cohesion, also related to the intended subject of the thesis. A table with all courses (including course codes and EC’s) must be included in the request.
- The student needs to motivate in the request why this free programme is relevant to him/her.
- The student should motivate in what way he/she can fulfil the final attainment targets of the degree programme with the courses of the free programme.
- The free programme must be approved by the main degree programme. Include the approval in your request.
Check the meeting schedule of the Examination Board for the deadline for submitting your request.
