Students are allowed to do their master's assignment outside the UT. However, this always occurs under the supervision of and in collaboration with one of the UT-BME professors. When you would like to do your assignment outside the UT, start with contacting the UT professor in the same (research) field of interest. Discuss the possibilities, existing collaborations, options of setting up a new collaboration and their willingness to supervise an external assignment. Please be sure to have a UT professor willing to supervise you before arranging anything with an external organisation!

The external master’s assignment is registered in the same way as a internal assignment, via approval in Mobility Online. When you are not sure you meet the requirements and/or would like to make a deviation on the (standard) rules, you should send in a request ánd have approval before the start of your assignment.

What should you motivate (as much as possible) in your request?

-          Why would you like to do your assignment with an external party?
-          What are your plans?
-          What is the (temporary) collaboration between the UT and your assignment?
-          What (standard) rule would you like to deviate from?
-          How will the UT professor guarantee the quality and level of the assignment?
-          What is the supervision plan?

Which information do you need to provide?

-          Filled in form regarding the external assignment including
         -  Written and/or signed agreement of the UT-BME professor willing to supervise you
         -  Supervision plan (see Canvas of the MSc assignment)
         -  Graduation committee members
-          Motivation
