Rebecca Elmhirst is based at the University of Brighton in the United Kingdom, where she is currently Reader in Human Geography. Her research interests lie in feminist political ecology, and the everyday politics of natural resource governance, displacement and migration. Much of her work draws from extensive field experience in Indonesia, where she co-researches with colleagues from universities and community organisations. Current projects include work commissioned by Rights and Resources International on the gendered impacts of large scale investments in oil palm, which she is undertaking with colleagues from CIFOR and University of Indonesia. She is co-editor of the journal Gender, Technology and Development.
