Prof. dr. Julius Vancso

During the 40 years of my academic career I have been active in several countries outside of my birthplace in Hungary. It is thus an extraordinary distinction to receive this honorary doctorate degree in recognition of my work in polymer materials science, given by the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, BME. BME is considered as the first institution in Europe to train engineers at the university level, which is going on since 1782. It is a great pride to become associated with BME, which has preserved the footsteps of three Nobel laureates, and those of a group of scientists, connected to this school, members of the so-called group of “The Martians”, who changed and impacted the course of global science and technology in a decisive way.
