Together with colleagues from the University of Amsterdam and Leiden University, a group of S&T researchers from the PhotoCatalytic Synthesis research group (PCS, CE department) – in particular Kaijian Zhu, Ainoa Paradelo Rodríguez, Guido Mul, and Annemarie Huijser – published a paper in the prestigious journal ‘Advanced Science’: Limiting Molecular Twisting: Upgrading a Donor–Acceptor Dye to Drive H2 Evolution - Zhu - Advanced Science - Wiley Online Library. The researchers demonstrate a major role of structural dynamics in solar fuel generation. By steering photoinduced molecular twisting, they were able to switch on/off hydrogen formation.
