Photoacoustic mammography is a novel diagnostic modality, pioneered by the chairs of prof. Steenbergen (BMPI) and prof. Manohar (M3I). These facilities consist of experimental biomedical photonic research labs in de Zuidhorst building and pre-clinical photoacoustic labs in the Technohal. After its successful initial clinical studies in the MST Oldenzaal hospital, the Twente Photoacoustic Mammoscope (PAM 2) will soon reside in the Imaging Lab, where experimental studies using human subjects can be performed in a safe, patient-friendly and controlled environment.
