The programme

The programme for the TechMed Research Day 2026 is currently under development. Throughout the day, an inspiring programme will be offered for everyone active in the Health Technology and MedTech domain at the University of Twente, bringing together early-career and experienced researchers as well as research-supporting staff. Below, you will find an overview of several sessions that will take place during the day.

Scientific programme

The oral and poster presentations by young researchers from across the TechMed Centre form a central part of the programme. These sessions showcase ongoing research projects and interdisciplinary collaborations, and provide presenters with the opportunity to share their work with a broad and diverse TechMed audience. By presenting their research to colleagues from different backgrounds and disciplines, researchers can exchange ideas, receive valuable feedback, and gain new perspectives on their work.

Interactive opening session

During the opening of the event, participants are invited to view familiar themes from a new perspective and to step outside their usual frames of reference. Through an interactive and engaging approach, the session stimulates fresh ways of thinking, encourages reflection on current practices, and explores new forms of interdisciplinary collaboration. Participants are actively involved and inspired to connect ideas, perspectives, and expertise in innovative ways.

Keynote talk

An inspiring keynote speaker provides reflection and inspiration, leading into the award ceremony. The keynote will be announced soon.

Thematic tables / small-group discussions

Participants can take part in small-group discussions on a range of research topics within MedTech and Health Technology. Each discussion table is guided by an expert, creating an open setting for in-depth and interactive exchange. The thematic tables are freely accessible throughout the session and run in parallel with the open poster gallery, allowing participants to join at any moment and move between discussions and posters. While the exact themes for this year are still being defined, previous editions included topics such as human-centred research, medical regulations (MDR), intellectual property, scientific career development, and patient and public involvement. This format offers a valuable opportunity to share knowledge, ask questions, and connect with both experts and peers across the TechMed community.

Co-creation session: shaping TechMed Centre

In this interactive co-creation session, senior researchers are invited to actively contribute to discussions on the further development of the interdisciplinary structure of the TechMed Centre. Together, we will explore how collaboration across disciplines can be strengthened, how research and support structures can evolve, and how the TechMed Centre can continue to grow as a cohesive and future-oriented research institute. The session offers space to share ideas, perspectives, and experiences, and to collectively reflect on opportunities and challenges for the coming years.
