Course goals
Discuss relevant theories and associated practical insights in the field of Change Management and Consultancy.
Conduct a literature review in a small group on a topic in the field of Change Management and Consultancy that: (a) has a sharply focused research question, (b) shows a robust search strategy, (c) contains a well-written synthesis of recent academic articles and practical texts, (d) offers valid practical advice to top management, employees, and/or other stakeholders and (e) contains recommendations for future research.
Analyse international business cases from the viewpoint of a change management expert by identifying root causes for problems in the case texts and suggesting alternative courses of action for managers, employees and other stakeholders in these cases.
Provide verbal commentary on change and/or consultancy situations during plenary business case discussions, by grounding these comments in the knowledge gained from the textbook and other scientific literature, your own work experience and the lectures, and by building upon the comments made by others.
Reflect on (a) your own behaviour while working on a group project (i.e. the group paper), (b) factors that influence the effectiveness of your group’s work processes, and (c) explicate how you would want to self-improve in future projects: based on your own Insights Discovery report and also the behaviours and reports of your group-members (if they share them with you).
