Green Hub Twente is the central point for sustainability initiatives at the UT. For the past 3 years Green Hub has been working on supporting the sustainable development of UT and beyond, by coaching, educating and connecting stakeholders. To help UT reach their goals of the 2030s vision, Green Hub is engaging initiatives on sustainability from both bottom up and top-down approaches.
The challenge arises when the contribution of various stakeholders and community members is not coordinated, which might lead to double work and waste of resources. Therefore, Green Hub believes in “starting locally (on the faculty level) and expanding globally (on the university level)”. This is how the project Faculty Green Hubs started, where mini Green Hubs were established in 3 out of the 5 faculties available at the University of Twente. Their goal is to explore, engage and serve the needs of their own community, including students, researchers, teachers and staff members. Their tasks involve operations, research, education, marketing & communications and community engagement.
