In the Rijksbrede Benchmark Groep (RBB), more than 40 public executive organizations learn from and with each other. For example, in the field of risk management. All these organizations are at the center of the VUCA world. They have to deal daily with high expectations of citizens, companies, their commissioning ministries, regulators and other stakeholders in a sensitive, political-administrative context.
On October 10, 2022, representatives of 8 RBB members met at UWV. Why? To reflect together on research on risk leadership development within their organizations. After all, some 25% of RBB members are already working on this, in various ways. So plenty of reason to join forces, in order to further develop risk leadership together. Questions about the why, what and how of research on risk leadership development were met with a surprisingly rich array of answers on October 10.
In this interactive workshop, we want to further explore the wild question of how to optimally develop risk leadership within different organizations. We would like to do this together with participants from other types of organizations from the public sector and business, with the following program:
- Introduction, introduction, context and reason for research on risk leadership (Martin, 10 minutes)
- Purpose and method of RBB group (Albert, 5 minutes)
- Why research, what research questions and how to conduct it? (Erik, Diederik & Janine, 40 minutes)
- Summary, look through to the sequel and conclusion (Martin, 5 minutes)
During Step 2, Erik, Diedrik and Janine provide the essentials of the answers given by the RBB members on October 10 for each question. This is the perspective from the implementing organizations. The participants in the room are then asked to respond to this from their own organizational perspective, for example, from a company or a healthcare facility. The essences of these are noted on a whiteboard and discussed with each other.
