15:00 - 16:00 PRESENTATIONS: RESILIENCE OF COMMUNICATION NETWORKS
Resilience to Change : Internet evolution and Society
With the evolution of internet, wireless technologies and robust communication hardware, not only the connectivity in the society and with the machines has increased, but it has also made the communication network more resilient towards failures. However, the society can also be resilient towards accepting these technology changes. In this session we would hear about how resilience has been and continues to be one of the key challenges for the communication networks both from the technology/hardware perspective and also from the societal/cultural aspect. And how can we make the technology resilient enough to overcome e.g. the societal, environmental and geo-political barriers.
EU is playing the pipes
The European Union works on various fronts to promote cyber resilience, safeguarding our communication and data and keeping online society and economy secure. On the chessboard are regulatory, investment and policy initiatives. Started in 2020 to shape Europe’s Digital Future. There is a significant focus on cybersecurity certification gaining an important role in proposed EU regulation. Important to keep trace of these developments, be prepared and/or join the efforts. A new set of required competencies is necessary, who is ready?
SoS : Save our Silicon
The recent semiconductor crisis has shown to us how important it is for a nation or region to be resilient to chip-design and manufacturing shortages for electronic components. Be it energy, automotive, medical applications, these “silicon chips” are everywhere. In order to be resilient to overcome such shortages we need to have no dependency on external geo-political factors and be self-reliant.
In this talk we would hear how to ensure the resilience of silicon not only from manufacturability but also of skilled chip designers.
