Resilient logistics corridors: development of a digital twin for the Twente canals

15:00 - 16:00 Resilient logistics corridors: development of a digital twin for the Twente canals

Language: Dutch (English on request)
Location: Carre 2H

In 2018 and 2022, inland shipping corridors were severely disrupted due to prolonged drought. As a result, the Twente canals became less navigable. This resulted in millions of euros in losses for water-related companies. In 2023, a consortium was formed by Port of Twente and a 3-year industrial research project was started via TKI Dinalog to increase the resilience of logistics corridors. Specifically, a digital twin is being developed to monitor water levels, infrastructure and logistics activities on the Twente canals. In addition, a resilience toolbox is being developed with users of the Twente canals to collaboratively develop a climate-adaptive and future-proof logistics corridor. During this session, the first results will be presented and a discussion will be held on developing resilience and the role of leadership.
