Destructive consultancy: who to blame?

10:15 - 11:15 - Destructive Consultancy: Who is to blame

Language: Dutch (English on request)

In the organisations where I am invited to diagnose the rootcauses of their failure many consultancy firms have implemented their 'solutions'. It does not work in neglected organizations.

Neglect in the workplace becomes evident when an organisation cannot perform key developmental tasks anymore as it should.

In an organisation plagued by abuse and neglect, relationships between management and staff are characterized by distrust and game playing. Employees pretend to be committed to the organisation’s objectives. Management and staff’s behavioral patterns are mutually reinforcing; management’s behavior provokes a knee jerk response in staff. In severe cases of neglect, relationships are so completely dysfunctional that reciprocity vanishes and self-preservation becomes employees’ top priority.

The healing cannot be outsourced to consultants. Management needs to take responsibility.
