Energy consumption is largely related to behavioural choices we make in everyday life. So to save energy, it makes sense to change consumer behaviour. However, this is easier said than done. Because although the majority of us say we are positive about energy saving and sustainability, in practice it turns out that this positive attitude does not guarantee actual energy saving and sustainable behavioural choices. Why is that? What are the pitfalls in terms of policy measures and technology? And what can we (perhaps) do about it?

dr. J. Jonas (Jiska)
Assistant Professor

Jiska Jonas is an associate professor at the University of Twente. She has extensive expertise in the field of recidivism research. For instance, she has experience in researching and evaluating the psychological impact of interventions aimed at reducing recidivism, such as mediation in criminal cases. In her research, she works with both quantitative and qualitative research methods. With her studies, she hopes to contribute to the further embedding of restorative justice in the Netherlands, so that parties find it easier to access restorative justice when there is a need for it.

dr.ir. P.W. de Vries (Peter)
Assistant Professor

Peter de Vries is an associate professor at the University of Twente (Department of Psychology of Conflict, Risk and Security. His current research interests include human-technology interaction and human-robot cooperation, the use of VR for training purposes and persuasive technology. For several years, he has been involved in research on ethnic profiling and its prevention, especially on the use of VR in police training to prevent ethnic profiling.
