are you ready to take your intercultural Competences to the next level?
Whether in your studies, an (ECIU) challenge or in your future career, the need to develop your intercultural competences and become able to work with anyone and anywhere in the world is becoming more and more important. These competences enable you to collaborate effectively with individuals from various backgrounds and locations worldwide, opening doors to unique collaboration opportunities and enriching perspectives. Learners can choose to participate in the Introduction to Interculturality (ItI) micro-module (1 ECTS) to gain a fundamental insight into culture, cultural differences and global perspectives; or the Intercultural Competences through Citizen Science (ICCS) challenge (4 ECTS) which includes the ItI micro-module as well as a Citizen Science project together with learners from across the ECIU network as well as an on-site mobility week. More information about the two possible courses can be found below or on the ECIU Engage platform. A schematic planning of the courses can be seen below or, in more detail, under the tab course planning.

Intercultural Competences through Citizen Science - Challenge
The Intercultural Competences through Citizen Science (ICCS) challenge equips learners with essential intercultural competencies through a group challenge on a cultural Citizen Science project.
As our world becomes more interconnected, the ability the collaborate effectively across cultures is becoming increasingly important for students and young professionals. This course provides learners with a hands-on approach to develop such skills through relevant lectures and by engaging learners in a collaborative project with peers from across the ECIU on a Citizen Science project. Before the start of the course, learners choose a Citizen Science project from a predetermined list of projects within the ECIU collaboration. Throughout the course, learners meet with their group members and work with the expert of their Citizen Science project to critically evaluate the project and work on a citizen participation plan. This requires the learners to gain a full understanding of the Citizen Science project and to critically assess how they can ensure citizen participation for the project. The project also encompasses a mobility week to the University of Twente, where students take part in engaging workshops and cultural activities.
Aside from the project, students join the learners from the Introduction to Interculturality micro-module in their weekly lectures and discussion sessions to gain the relevant knowledge on culturality and intercultural skills. Special for the ICCS Challenge learners are an additional two session that give an introduction into Citizen Science at the start of their project.
