The Master’s in Humanitarian Engineering is structured as a two-year programme comprising 120 EC. In the first year, nine compulsory courses, including four project-based components, are followed, alongside three elective courses. In the second year, knowledge and competence are further deepened either through additional elective courses or through an internship, during which previously acquired skills are applied and professional experience is expanded. The remainder of the year is dedicated to the development of a research proposal (5 EC) and the completion of a 40 EC master’s graduation project.
The programme focuses on three key domains within humanitarian engineering. Education in all three domains is provided during the first year, as they are considered essential pillars for effectively addressing humanitarian challenges. While the first year ensures a broad foundation across all domains, students have the opportunity to focus on one domain during the second year by choosing an internship, additional elective courses, or a master’s graduation project focused on that domain.
