Examination profile and policy

Examiner profile and UT Assessment Policy

In 2023, UT established its Vision on Learning and Teaching, placing three goals at the heart of our education: learning by doing, building inclusive communities, and self-development. Through testing and assessment practice, the UT programmes stimulate the learning and development of every student, monitor their study progress, and assess students' knowledge, insights, and skills.
An institution-wide assessment policy has been drawn up to ensure that all assessments are of good quality, that all actions surrounding the assessment process run smoothly, and that everyone involved is aware of their role, tasks, and responsibilities. This assessment policy also indicates what is required and expected of an examiner (look under Level 4: course-examiner). The following requirements are indicated:

 1)  Ensure assessment aligns with and meets quality
      standards.
 2)  Choose a suitable grading method and conduct a
      test analysis before assigning grades.
3)  Ensure that the course information in Osiris and
     Canvas is updated.
4)  Ensure measures to prevent and detect fraud and
report fraud to the Examination Board.
5)  Archive assessment and thesis results according
     to applicable rules

As an examiner, you are responsible for ensuring that your assessments are of high quality. This means that assessment should offer students a good opportunity to show their competence. At the same time, assessments should make a good distinction between students who do and who do not master a course's learning objectives. A good way to ensure high-quality assessments is to use the guiding principle of constructive alignment and follow the steps of the assessment cycle. In the Testing & Assessment Toolbox, you find the guidelines and practical tips for this purpose.
