Student Nick van de Voort wins thesis prize Royal Dutch Waternetwork (KNW)

The Royal Dutch Waternetwork (KNW) awards an annual prize for the best thesis on a water topic. Nick van de Voort, a student of Civil Engineering, won the first prize in the BSc-category with his thesis on modelling groundwater levels and water pressure in dikes. He did his internship at Sweco, one of the leading consultancy agencies in the Netherlands. His findings will contribute to avoiding dikes to be over-dimensioned.

The prize consists of € 600,- plus the opportunity to write a short research paper on the thesis in H2O, the magazine of KNW. The prize was symbolically handed over to his UT supervisor Maarten Krol, representing Nick, who is currently in Stavanger, Norway, for an additional minor.
