Optimus association

Hello and welcome to the Optimus website! Optimus is the association of the Design, Production and Management (DPM) department of the University of Twente (NL). The goal of Optimus is to increase its member's engagement to the DPM department (formerly known as the OPM laboratory). To achieve this goal, Optimus offers a platform which stimulates informal contact between its employee members and student members.

Optimus and its enthusiastic members organize social and informative activities on a regular base. The social activities are for example barbecues, laser tag and cinema visits. The informative meetings cover for example company excursions (i.e. KLM maintenance engineering) and exhibitions (i.e. Dutch Design Week). Optimus usually manages to offer such activities to its members for an interesting price (from a discount to free of charge).

The members of Optimus are a mixed group (currently around 50/50) of DPM employees (from Professors to PhD students) and master students associated with the DPM department. The master students are Industrial Design Engineering students, following either the Emerging Technology Design, Human-Product Relations or Management of Product Development, or Mechanical Engineering students, following either Design Engineering, Maintenance Engineering or Production Management. In summary, every master student associated with DPM (graduation at one of the chairs of DPM) is most welcome to join.
