Welcome to page of the group of Market Dynamics in Construction. Our research covers a wide variety of topics related to innovation and progress in the domain of Infrastructures and the stakeholders in the industry responsible for planning, design, construction, maintenance, and decommissioning.
Next to infrastructures as roads, bridges, canals, we also consider the utility infrastructures (a.k.a. cables & pipes). Key in our work is developing approaches and (digital) technologies that enable the stakeholders to enhance asset management, to reduce risks and to improve coordination and working processes.
The MD group has a close and active working relation with the IPD group (Integrated Project Delivery). The MD group and IPD group together are the Construction Management & Engineering cluster (CME).
Together CM and IPD are responsible for 4TU MSc program; the CME profile within the UT CEM program; the UT Civil Engineering EngD program.
Futhermore: the MD group takes interests and roles in the development of Life Long Learning schemes and cooperation with HBO and MBO. The MB group actively pursues and promotes close cooperation with regional stakeholders.
The MD group consist of about 30 people. About 15 staf and 15 Eng/PhD candidates. Next to the chair of Market Dynamics (prof Dorée), are five associate professors each with their key field of expertise and network of partners.
- Dr Andreas Hartmann is expert in Infrastructure Asset Management and has the lead in the PRiME Program (Program of Infrastructure Management Excellence).
- Dr Hans Voordijk has focus on Supply Chain Management.
- Dr Seirgei Miller runs the ASPARi-program (Asphalt Paving Research & Innovation).
- Dr Leon olde Scholtenhuis is our anchor for sub surface structures, site exploration and utility networks. He runs the ZoARG-Program (reducing cable strikes) and lead for the Living Innovation Lab on campus.
- Dr Farid Vahdatikhaki is the lead for development of digital tools and technologies, simulation and visualization in construction.
The MD group also hosts two parttime professors.
- Prof Arjen Adriaanse (director of TNO) and keyperson in the UT TNO cooperation, is part of the group over a decade.
- The other parttime chair is funded by the NIPV (national institute for public safety) and occupied by prof Nils Rosmuller.
