It is possible to replace max. 10 EC (2 courses) of the EST electives by courses from another master's programme, if certain criteria are met.
In case a student wants to take a course from another programme instead of an EST elective, these requirements apply:
- It must be a master’s course.
- The student must first ask the offering programme’s study adviser or programme coordinator whether they would accept them in the course.
- If that is the case, the student must submit a motivated request to the EST programme (via email to the EST study adviser):
- In this request the student explains their motivation, and how the course will contribute to the EST Intended Learning Outcomes (as described in the EST Programme Guide).
- An Osiris course description must be attached.
- The request must be submitted 3 weeks before the start of the course at the latest (but preferably sooner).
- When the request is approved, the course may be included in the personal EST study programme. Until the student receives this approval, it is wise to still have an EST elective as back-up plan in mind.
- If scheduling conflicts occur, the EST courses have first priority, so the student may need to solve it in the external course.
In case a student don’t want to replace an EST elective, but just take an additional course (on top of the 60 EC), there are less requirements:
- The student must of course still ask the offering programme whether they may follow the course (and arrange registration with the offering programme).
- Probably needless to say, but still, in case the extra workload appears to be too much after all, or if scheduling conflicts occur, the EST courses of course have first priority, so the student may need to drop the extra course.
- The student makes arrangements with BOZ-EST to have the course mentioned as ‘extra curricular’ on their diploma supplement by the end of their master’s (before graduation).
