I am an Assistant Professor at the Human Media Interaction group at the Electrical Engineering Mathematics and Computer Science faculty. My background is in intelligent systems and human-machine interaction. My research focuses on developing interactive intelligent systems for coaching, (long-term) Human-Robot Interaction, and interactive robot learning.
Starting as a research student assistant at the Cognition and Robotics Lab developing mobile interactive mobile and humanoid service robotics, I continued to broaden my perspective on human-technology interaction from a social and sports psychology stance to create social robots for exercising and coaching scenarios in long-term and recurring interactions as a PhD student, also at the CoR Lab, and Center for Cognitive Interaction Technologies (CITEC).
After my Ph.D., I worked as a postdoc at the HRI Lab at Kyoto University, exploring mobile persuasive robotics "in the wild." Subsequently, I joined the Faculty of Sociology at Bielefeld University as a postdoc to investigate the impact of AI on epidemiology from a sociological perspective.
However, my curiosity remained on the interactive side of technology, and I continued my research in HRI on service robots for public spaces and socially empathic multi-turn interaction at the Cologne Cobots Lab.
Before joining the University of Twente, I worked as a Data Scientist in the Machine Learning and AI group at Miele & Cie. KG on deep learning, computer vision for household appliances, and large language models.
