Luotong Cheng

Profile

Luotong Cheng is a PhD student in the Human Media Interaction (HMI) group at the University of Twente. With an interdisciplinary background in art, cultural heritage, and technologies, Luotong obtained a BA degree in Art History (2023) and an MA degree in Digital Humanities (2024) from the University of Groningen. Luotong’s research interests lie in linked data, the semantic web, ontology engineering, and knowledge representation. In 2024, Luotong began the PhD at HMI, focusing on designing a domain ontology to support sustainability and inclusivity in the employment of people with disabilities, supervised by Dr. Birna van Riemsdijk, Dr. Joschka Hüllmann, and Dr. Jeroen Meijerink. This work is part of the project Don’t forget the forgotten! Towards a platform-based approach for a sustainable employment of workers with a disability  " (funded by NWO). Previously, Luotong worked as a research assistant at the University of Groningen, contributing to the design of a domain ontology for narrative and fiction in the GOLEM project (Graphs and Ontologies for Literary Evolution Models , funded by the European Commission (ERC StG)).
