On the impact and value of collective energy solutions

Master assignment in cooperation with Alliander

Collective energy solutions, such as group contracts and collective forms of self-consumption, are becoming more common. For both solutions, Alliander (a Dutch DSO (distribution system operator), wants to know more about the potential impact, i.e., how many parties or consumers would participate in collective solutions, how much electric power would that add up to, what would be the effect on the grid or the total consumption? Furthermore, Alliander wants to investigate what motivates consumers to participating in these types of solutions. Is it just financial or are there other reasons to join? Additionally, are there any barriers or limitations that would discourage people to join?
