Kamiel Cornelissen defended his PhD thesis

On May 27th, 2016 Kamiel Cornelissen successfully defended his PhD thesis titled “Smoothed Analysis of Belief Propagation and Minimum-Cost Flow Algorithms”. Kamiel was a PhD student of our group the past 4 years, on a project that was funded by NWO’s open competition. His (smooth) supervisor was Bodo Manthey, Marc Uetz being his formal promotor. Kamiel, who has already been an MSc student of our group until 2009, obtained quite some fame for his success in the strategic card game “Magic: The Gathering”, where he even made into the hall of fame in 2009. Now he also holds a doctorate in applied mathematics on top of that. Congratulations! We wish him all of success for his future.
