On May 25, MSc student Loes Knoben graduated as MSc in Applied Mathematics cum laude. Loes did her final project at ORTEC, under joint supervision of prof. Gromicho (VU and Ortec) and prof. Uetz. Her project addresses a logistics problem in vendor managed inventory, specifically for the distribution of liquids such as fuels and gasses. In her MSc thesis she proposes and analyzes new algorithms to answer the day-to-day decision problem when to deliver a customer: may-go or must-go? Her ideas focus in particuar on the alignment of short-term decisions for long-term performance, and give rise to potential improvements in the software product ORTEC Inventory Routing.
