On 2 December, the Executive Board determined the collective closing days (so called bridging days) for 2026 and 2027. These are, as usual, the day after Ascension Day and the days between Christmas and New Year's Eve. Because 2 January 2026 falls on a Friday, it has also been designated as a bridging day.
Each year, a maximum of 7 days are designated for a collective closure (the so-called bridging days). During a bridging day, you are required to take leave. The number of hours that you would have worked on this day according to your work pattern is automatically deducted from your leave entitlement.
A complete overview of the bridging days 2024 up to and including 2027 can be found on the service portal under the heading ‘Public holidays and compulsory leave days’.
