We are very happy to share that the proposal “Measuring and Reducing Carbon Emissions in End-to-End Networked Systems”, led by dr. Antonia Affinito and prof.dr.ir. Geert Heijenk, and other colleagues across the 4TU.NIRICT community, has been awarded 20.000 euros in funding.
This interdisciplinary initiative will connect researchers in electrical engineering and computer science in a series of three events throughout 2026. Together, we will explore how carbon emissions arise across the different layers of networked systems, including hardware, protocols, and system-level behavior, and how they can be measured, managed, and reduced. The goal is to strengthen collaboration and define practical approaches for more sustainable networked technologies.
