March Blog Post on the Progress within the Consortium
Transitioning towards Resilient Multimodal Corridors using Digital Twinning
The past few weeks have been highly productive for the MultiModal Corridor Digital Twin Project team. While our two recently hired academic colleagues, Mohsen and Tommy, were focused on obtaining their qualifiers—a key milestone in academic career progression—several other exciting developments took place as well.
First, we are pleased to announce that Peterson Nederland has officially joined the consortium! Berend Lensen, manager of Peterson’s Inland Shipping Department, has already been actively involved in various aspects of the project. This formal partnership strengthens our expertise in inland shipping and expands our capabilities in monitoring key parameters through advanced sensor technology. A great example of this collaboration was the joint presentation by Anne-Ruth Scheijgrond and Berend Lensen at the MultiModaal Transport Export event.
Additionally, a project delegation recently visited the Eefde lock to gain firsthand insights into the daily operations of this crucial inland shipping asset. The visit reinforced the importance of maintaining a stable and high water level in the canal, a factor essential for smooth navigation. The participants found the guided tour extremely informative and valuable.
Finally, the first outlines of the digital twin are beginning to take shape. With a vast amount of data and parameters to integrate, there is still much work ahead. However, the team is excited to see the progress made over the past year materializing into tangible results. Stay tuned for more updates!
