Developing PRO BONO: Building Regional Capacity for Citizen Science
Citizen Science Hub Twente is a key partner in PRO BONO, a multi-year initiative that strengthens the regional ecosystem for citizen science. Funded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO) and supported by partners including University of Twente, Saxion University of Applied Sciences, the Province of Overijssel, the Municipality of Enschede, Tetem and Twentse Noabers, PRO BONO aims to:
- Embed citizen science in public institutions, education, and policy
- Create long-term infrastructure and support for citizen-led research
- Enable equitable participation and knowledge co-creation across disciplines and sectors
- Build bridges between science, government, and society
Through PRO BONO, we are developing new forms of collaboration, experimenting with sustainable models for participation and funding, and working towards an inclusive regional knowledge democracy.
Whether you are a researcher, policymaker, organisation, or an engaged citizen — we invite you to collaborate with us.
