New ways to spread malware Criminals deploy file sharing sites to spread their malware.

LISA received reports about new ways to infect computers.

This time criminals use file sharing sites like Google Docs and WeTransfer to deliver infected files. The victim receives an e-mail claming to be send by a co-worker or other relation. The e-mail contains a link purporting to be at one of the file sharing sites.

LISA advises to always be careful with links sent in e-mail. Always check whether

  • the recipient is trustworthy;
  • the recipient usually shares documents like this;
  • the link is acurate.

If the sender is unknown, delete the message. If the sender is known to the recipient, contact the sender and verify the message. Do NOT use e-mail as the sender's e-mailbox might be compromised.
