Creative and design thinking (online)

Schedule of Online Design Thinking and Creativity Course,

(Proposal for courses Nov 20 and Dec 10)

Due to the COVID-19 regulations, the set-up of this course has changed.

The course will now be a combination of preparation by the participants (recorded lectures and homework) and an online workshop of half a day. Attendance during the online workshop with webcam and audio available is mandatory.  

The lectures will be pre-recorded and be shared in advance

              Lecture of prof. dr. Geke Ludden about creativity and design thinking: 30-35 minutes

              Lecture of dr. Armağan Karahanoğlu about creativity techniques: 20-25 minutes

 Preparation by participants (5-8 hours)

·       Watch the mini lectures (1-1:30 hours)

·       Read the reading materials (3-4 hours)

·       Prepare for the online exercises (1-1:30 hours)

1.       Find a picture that fascinates you – for instance, the launch of SpaceX rocket fascinated me, so I’ll bring a picture from the launch.

2.       Find these items and have them near your working place before coming to the online workshop:          

a.       Lego – PREFERABLE, or

b.       Scissors / paper/ colored pens / tape and other crafting materials

Introduce a problem and start discussions

Positive and Negative Brainstorming

Six Thinking Hats

10:50-11:00                       Mini Break

11:00-11:30                       Exercise 3:

Collaborative Prototyping

11:30- 12:00                      Discussion of Prototypes

General Discussion about the methods / ways to further implement results

    For PhDs who would like to benefit (in work and life) from adopting designerly ways of thinking and doing and who would like to learn and work with creativity techniques that they can directly apply to their PhD project.

    The study load for this course is roughly equivalent to 1 ECTS.
