Information about the Binding recommendation on continuation of studies (BSA) is given in several information meetings and via emails of the study adviser. At the end of your first academic year (B1), you will be issued a BSA. If you meet the BSA standard, you will be postive advised to continue with your programme. You will be issued a negative BSA if you do not comply with the CSE programme’s BSA standard. A negative BSA means you will be forced to discontinue your studies. After the final binding recommendation there is an opportunity to apply for a hearing when you think that you have wrongfully received a negative binding recommendation.
For more general information about BSA, the BSA procedure and consequences check: https://www.utwente.nl/en/ces/sacc/regulations/bsa/. More detailed information about the programme related rules we refer you to the programme specific EER.
BSA Hearing
When you think that you have wrongfully received a negative binding recommendation, there is an opportunity to be heard by the board of the CSE programme. E.g. in case there were personal circumstances after 1 July 2025. This year the hearing takes place on 19 August 2025. The committee consists of the CSE programme director (OLD) and a member of the CSE Examination Board. The study adviser will accompany you during the hearing.

The deadline for applying for the hearing is 17 August 2025. You can apply for this hearing by sending an email, before 18 August, to study adviser Nienke Oesterholt.
