Timeline and Planning

This is a short overview of all the steps you need to take in order to sucessfully carry out your Research Topics and Final Project. Note, that there is more eleborate information on each topic available on the RT-FP Canvas once your registered for Research Topics in Osiris.

Orientation and start Research Topics

When

What

After approx. 60 EC

Start thinking about an area / subjects for your Final Project (and Research Topics). What do you like, what direction do you want to go in. Start appoaching possible supervisors in the area of your preffered topic. If you are looking to carry our your final project within a company start approaching companies for possible assignments.

Between 60-80 EC in course

Register for Research Topics in Osiris in order to get access to all the information on the Canvas.
Information includes: who can be your supervisor, more tips on how to find an assingment, assessment, registration in Mobiltiy online, etc.


If you are struggling to find an assignment, approach your programme mentor for possible assignments or suggestions for supervisors.

After 75 EC in courses

Start Research Topics 


To start, register in Osiris if you did not already and fill out the Standard registration in Mobility Online. After the registration log back in again to continue with the procedure, and print and upload the signed from to make the registration formal.

To start the Final Project

(max 10 EC in courses, other than RT, left unfinished)

Register in Osiris and with the Extended Registration form in Mobility Online and after login back in and completing the procedure, upload the form, signed by two members of the graduation committee to make your registration formal.


You can read the Mobility Online Manual for more elaborate explanation about the registration or visit the Educational Systems website

After registering in Extended form, you always have to log back in again and follow the procedure and status of your application with the Educational Affairs Office (BOZ). You can have only one registration open at the time, so make sure to complete Research Topics before starting your Final Project.


If the contents of your assignment and thesis need to stay confidential, you have to submit a written request for confidentiality to the Programme director. Keep in mind that confidenty is always limited to a set period (see also the TER), typically two years.

What

At least one month before final presentation / colloquium

Green Light
At the end of his graduation work the graduation committee gives the student the “green-light declaration”. This means the student can finalize his work and organize his colloquium. The result of his graduation work will be sufficient. 
The committee can do so by sending an email to boz-cs@utwente.nl. This “green-light declaration’ has a tenability of three months and has to been sent to BOZ at least a month before the students final presentation.  

After getting ' green light' 

To request your final presentation and master examination:
Fill out and hand in forms for your Final Presentation and Request Master examination (graduation) at BOZ (boz-cs@utwente.nl)

At most one day before your final presenation
