CreaTe student develops the Badge Buddy to explain treatment procedures to children with cancer

During her graduation project, Manouk Hillebrand (grad. 2021) developed the Badge Buddy that provides information about different DIPG procedures and treatments to child patients through animated information videos that can be accessed via scanning the QR-codes on badges with a smartphone. These badges can be used by paediatricians to inform child patients before treatments and a child patient can earn the badge after they have finished a particular treatment. Additionally, the Badge Buddy provides support to child patients and make them feel empowered by being able to compliment them on the badges they have earned.

We are happy that the Badge Buddy was positively received by the client - Tobias Sybesma Foundation and healthcare professionals at the Princes Maxima Centrum. You can read more about Manouk's research here and here.

At the moment Manouk finishes her master's degree in Education Science & Technology at the UT.
