Disclosing and sharing personal circumstances

Our team of student counsellors is here to provide the guidance and support you need during and next to your studies.

We can help you if you need information and independent advice on topics related to your studies and personal situations. We provide counselling with regard to regulations, like:

All conversations are confidential. Even more, the student counsellor is also a confidential adviser for undesirable behaviour and confidentiality issues. If you want to get in contact with one of the student counsellors, you can make an appointment.

Personal circumstances

Life can be unpredictable, and sometimes, personal challenges can disrupt your studies, potentially leading to concerns about meeting the BSA (binding recommendation) and MoMi requirements. We can help you! Have you ever thought about having your unique circumstances considered by the Personal Circumstances Committee (CPO)? It is a way to explore exceptions to the Binding Study Recommendation, MoMi criteria, or FOBOS that could make you eligible for essential financial support.

Through the following questionnaire, you can submit your application to have your personal circumstances assessed or you will receive information about the steps to take. If you do not meet the MoMi standard because ECs are allocated or processed too late because of a thesis, internship or another administrative reason, simply fill out the MoMi study progress form (pdf) instead

Finances

EMERGENCY FUND

You can apply for an interest-free loan if you experience financial problems. For instance when you did not receive your scholarship in time or have not yet received the monthly allowance from your parents. Or maybe you have to deal with one of the many other problems that can get you into financial trouble. You can apply for an interest-free loan from the emergency fund, which the student counsellors administer. The application will be discussed during an interview with a student counsellor.

FUNDING

In some cases, you may be eligible for financial support. Check the information of the Dienst Uitvoering Onderwijs (DUO)  in case of study delay due to disabilities or illness. You may also be eligible for UT financial support through the FOBOS, Force Majeure Allowance Regulation.

Make an appointment with one of the student counsellors to discuss your possibilities. The student counsellor informs you about the regulations and helps you with your request.

SCHOLARSHIPS

When you are a UTS or OTS Scholarship recipient and encounter study delay due to personal circumstances, you may be eligible for a UTS or OTS scholarship extension. The Regulation UTS/OTS scholarship extension outlines the conditions and procedure for this extension.
