In the European ySkills project, researchers from the Centre for Digital Inclusion developed a task-based performance measure to assess the digital skills of children aged 12 to 17. The measure evaluates three key skills: (1) information navigation and processing; (2) communication and interaction; and (3) content creation and production. Each of these skills includes several sub-dimensions, which together provide a comprehensive picture of children's digital proficiency.
The tasks are designed to reflect real-life situations and relevant topics. This particular article focuses on the development process, highlighting several (primarily methodological) challenges that needed to be addressed. These challenges provided valuable insights for future applications. The full article, which outlines the lessons learned, can be read here.
