Programme Committee

Programme Committees play a crucial role in the quality assurance of the higher education system in the Netherlands, and is prescribed in accordance with the WHW (Dutch Law on Higher Education) for each education programme or groups of programmes.

The Programme Committee of Civil Engineering is an advisory board for the programme director Civil Engineering and has to be heard regarding all educational matters. This includes course programmes, study load, timetables, resolution of complaints and course evaluations. The Programme Committee comprises an equal number of students and staff, chaired by a lecturer. Members are appointed by the dean of the Faculty of Engineering Technology.

An important issue is the evaluation of courses and programme in many ways.

The Programme Committee composes an annual report after each year. Composing an annual report is a requirement from the Wet op het Hoger Onderwijs en Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek (Law of Higher Education and Scientific Research). In this annual report, the Programme Committee justifies the way of working towards the dean and evaluates on the proceedings of the past year. Additionally, the Programme Committee announces its plans for the next year(s).
