Enrich your research and guide your students

An introduction for thesis supervisors and teachers

Since 2020, research methodology and data analysis courses are taught using the statistical programming language R, and therefore not SPSS. This academic year, the first cohort of R students will enter their Bachelor thesis trajectories. As such, thesis supervisors and teachers who did not yet do so need the proper basis in R themselves, so that students can receive the supervision they need. Therefore, new rounds of Introduction to R workshops are organized, starting with four opportunities to participate in January 2023. Each workshop is split in two parts: First, we will introduce you to R, the way we teach R to students, and what you will be faced with and can expect of your students, combined with practice time on example datasets. Second, you will have the opportunity to bring your own data and existing SPSS scripts and practice your analyses in R.

In January, we offer four Introduction to R workshops:

For more information, if you have any questions, and if you are interested in follow up workshops to lift your education and research to the next level, please contact Johannes Steinrücke via j.steinrucke@utwente.nl, MS Teams, visit him in the Cubicus, room B320, For a variety of information on the use and teaching of R see the canvas page!
