The rapid and ongoing digitalization of society has led to an exponential growth and availability of both structured and unstructured data. This is often referred to as “Big Data”. Not only does this confront us with new technological and ethical challenges, it also requires more sophisticated data management tools and data analysis techniques. So, how should we deal with all this data? What methods can be used for data collection, storage, retrieval, analysis, and visualization? And, most of all, how can it be used to promote clinical medicine?
This summerschool will bring the international “big data” community together and will offer a 4-day program filled with didactic and interactive sessions aimed at answering these and other questions. In addition to the scheduled talks presented by experts in the field, ample networking opportunities with peers and opinion leaders will give attendees a better understanding of the state-of-the-art, its ethical and technical issues, and suitable approaches on the management and analysis of big data.
