Background information
The BMS Research Theme Learning and Research for Societal Transformation continues the former BMS Research Theme Learning and opens it to further aspects of knowledge transfer in research and learning, with a specific focus on impactful knowledge that responds to the needs of a just and sustainable society.
The theme will offer a space for researchers to collaborate and critically reflect on the role of science in shaping societal change. At a time when science faces pressures for linear, efficiency-driven impact, this theme challenges such logic by promoting knowledge developed and applied in meaningful dialogue with society. The theme emphasizes collaborative, transdisciplinary methods, creative dissemination, and critical reflection. It also supports research and practice of learning that sees learners as co-creators of knowledge, whose development contributes to wider societal change.
New Teams site for the research theme
The Research Theme has also launched a new Teams page for anyone interested to join. On this site you can find and contribute information about events, funding and collaboration opportunities. To subscribe to the site, please use the following code: 3y2qh8n
What will happen in the kick-off workshop?
In the workshop we will present the core ideas guiding the research theme and give insight into current BMS research projects in this area.
Also, we want to develop opportunities for collaboration across the BMS faculty, and hope for your active contribution in this area. In this workshop, there will be room for you to contribute. If you have ideas for this, for example, if you already have projects that fit to the theme Learning and Research for Societal Transformation, please contact us.
During the workshop there will be some catering, and after the workshop you are heartily invited to join us for a borrel from 16.00 to 17.00.
Who should participate?
Everybody, i.e. all researchers of the BMS faculty are invited to join us in this endeavor.
