Venturelab Twente wins national preliminaries European Enterprise Promotion Award
Program Manager Jaap van Tilburg pitches Venturelab to the European final in Lithuania
Venturelab Twente has been nominated for the European final of the European Enterprise Promotion Award late November in Lithuania.
For the Netherlands competitors were amongst others, Erasmus and Saxion. Organized by the European Commission, the competition recognizes and rewards the best public-private programs that promote Enterprise and Entrepreneurship.
The jury report praised the high-level impact of the VentureLab program. In three years, it supported 230 entrepreneurs, which has already led to a growth in employment of 2,000 FTE. Meanwhile Venturelab Twente became independent and is succeeded by Venturelab International.
The scientifically based VentureLab program consists of a coherent set of instruments, which engages at three levels: the entrepreneur, the management team which ideally is in place, and the business case. Training, coaching and access to networks, are key elements that are offered. As they say, this approach helps entrepreneurs "to fall in a hole less often en less deep, by detecting and addressing shortcomings in all areas ".
Spin-off programs and customized solutions
Since 2013, Venturelab also brings parts of the program on the market as compact spin-off programs:
•the Top Classes Entrepreneurship short-term, intensive programs on strategy, finance or marketing, for entrepreneurs, who quickly and efficiently wish to brush up their knowledge and skills.
•the Venturelab Investor Readiness program an intensive five-day course, intended for SMEs with growth potential and ambition, to adequately prepare suitable candidates to obtain external finance.
Other spin-offs are the Business Model Generation workshops, Entrepreneurship summer schools, workshops for business developers (together with the Dutch trade association for business developers), and the soft landing programs, together with regional partners, to help establish foreign companies in Twente.
