Long lines, hours of waiting time and hundreds of cancelled flights. Many European airports, such as Schiphol, have been struggling to handle all the passengers. How did this happen and can it even be resolved? ‘At this point, we can only come up with patches to cover the wound, but not completely solve the problem,’ says UT scientist Dennis Prak.
