One of the main topics of the research of the Communication Science Department is digital inequality. Jan van Dijk, emeritus professor of this Department after having published several books and articles on this topic has now made a summary of 25 years of research. It is also written as a text book for students (costs only 25 dollars).
The publisher is Polity Press (UK and USA).
The main message is that, unfortunately digital inequality reinforces existing and growing social inequality. Fortunately in the last chapter many policy solutions are offered to at least mitigate the digital divide.
