This year the concrete canoe race was in the city Eindhoven!
Once again, it was an epic edition with quite some good opponents and our own team had some very new members. The team took home quite some prices despite having a hectic day. For this race day, three canoes were build and two were taken to Eindhoven. The boats that went to Eindhoven were YMCAnoe and T Betonnert and Blikcement.
After we moved the canoes to Eindhoven on Friday, one of our boats suffered a big length crack due to the weighing process. So the question was how long this one would last....The 50m races flew by and we grabbed the finals in all categories without any problems. In the end at the 50m we took the win with the women and mixed and finished third with the men.
At the 100m unfortunately one of our canoes sank and we only had 1 canoe left. This meant that we only got to row the heats with two teams and then had to choose who would row the semi-finals and finals. But this didn't stop us and we still grabbed a final spot with the women's and mixed race. Here we took the win in the mixed race, and became third with the women.
At the king distance, the 200 meters, we had the best chance by having a canoe that is really build for the 200 meters. This then also lead to a win for the women and man. In the mixed, unfortunately we were hindered in the turn and became third.
So we left the weekend with 5 out of 9 first prizes and three third prizes. We were able to see and test many things on our canoes, which we can use in the coming year to develop new and even better canoes. Hopefully all these innovations can be used with the new mould. We are already hyped for the next season!
