Philosophy, Food, and good Conversations
On Wednesday 23rd of January, Nestorix organized their winter meet-up dinner for alumni of the UT master’s program Philosophy of Science, Technology and Society (PSTS). Just like the last event, which took place at the start of summer 2024, Nestorix decided to come together in the vegetarian Italian place Vegitalian (it’s in the name) in Utrecht.
About 12 alumni braved the cold and rain to enjoy some No Pepperoni pizza, gorgonzola-pumpkin pizza and eggplant ravioli. Noticeable was that the group consisted of a fun mix of short-term-alumni who graduated in 2022 to long-term-alumni who graduated in 2008 to inbetweeners who graduated around 2015 and 2016.
The group spoke about PhD’s in conceptual engineering, animal rights, XR devices and reminisced about the days in which geopolitics didn’t occupy our minds but Philosophy of Mind concepts instead: do we actually live in a simulation or not? After pistachio tiramisu and chocolate mousse with berries, the group said goodbye, put their rain jackets on and went their separate ways home: sadly none the wiser about the world being a simulated reality but satisfied by a philosophical dinner.
Until next time, Nestorix!
