Introduction

On this page you can download supportive tools for playing the “small variant” of the University of Twente Operating Room Manager Game. This variant can be played in a shorter time frame, and requires no players’ knowledge regarding the implementation of advanced planning and scheduling techniques or simulation models. For this variant we have developed a Windows®-compatible program, in which all planning / scheduling / simulation / benchmarking techniques and models are integrated, and can be selected by the user. The use of this software involves a license fee.

Operating Room Manager Game software

We are currently developing a MS Windows compatible software program that allows playing the ORgame without the use of any other software. In this program, all game options are made available to the player, who can select his options and thus build an operating room department and design its planning and scheduling, without having to implement scheduling algorithms, etc. The program will even simulate the constructed operating room department, and provide the results to the player. Finally, the program will provide a DEA analysis tool that allows comparing the performances of various scenarios.

At this moment, the software supports assignments 1 and 2. As soon as the first version of the software is released, more detailed information will be put on this website, such as screenshots and a manual.

Selection of the winner

As in any game, at the end of this game, a winner must be selected. We do this as follows. After the students have given their presentation and have done their DEA analysis to benchmark all players, each player is asked to give a top 3 ranking of other players. The top 3 players consequently receive 3, 2, or 1 point(s). The winner is the player with the most points. You can download our results for 2006, and the MS Excel tool that was used to determine the winner here. This tool can easily be adapted for more/less players.
